Damages Obtained by The Legal Line Solicitors for a Client Badly Injured by Dangerous Flooring in a Public Area

Accident on Public Property

In January 2002, the client had an accident in the Oval Basin in Cardiff Bay. This was caused by wooden flooring in a public, outdoor area that became slippery and very dangerous when wet. There had been previous complaints about this but no action had been taken by the City Council to replace the flooring with something safer or to take measures to warn the public of the hazard.

Personal Injury

The accident caused serious injuries to the client's hand, thumb and arm, including a fractured elbow. As a result the client’s ability to work was affected for a considerable period and she endured a great deal of pain and suffering.

Public Liability

Our solicitors were able to prove that the client was exposed to a foreseeable risk of injury by Cardiff City Council and that negligence on their part had caused the accident and subsequent injury.

Injury Compensation of over £7,000 was awarded to the client in respect of the pain, suffering and losses that she incurred.

Comment

This is a good example of a local authority failure to deal with a notified problem resulting in another injury. The award was a good one, proving our commitment to obtaining the maximum compensation in every case.
