A Business Development Administrator from Bridgwater in Somerset was injured in an accident at work in December 2006. She secured over £3000 in compensation with help from our specialist personal injury lawyers.
Janet Bishop, aged 51, was working for Bridgwater College when she suffered an injury at work caused by faulty equipment.
Miss Bishop was setting up a room for a presentation. She was extending a projection screen when, without warning, the screen sprang downwards and trapped her index finger. Her finger was cut and bruised.
Miss Bishop explains: “As a result of my accident I initially lost full use of my finger. I took medical advice and was given antibiotics and anti-inflammatories to reduce the swelling. When my finger didn’t recover, I took further advice and was referred to my local hospital. I was given a splint and advised that I had suffered tendon damage. It was extremely painful.”
Representing Miss Bishop, Lisa Hopper from Thompsons Solicitors in Plymouth, The Legal Line's lawyers, commented: “Miss Bishop’s injury was caused by an accident which could have been avoided. Employers need to make certain that the workplace is safe for all employees.”
