We recently pursued a personal injury claim on behalf of a man who suffered a shoulder injury in an accident at work.
Our client worked in the paint shop at a car manufacturing plant and was spraying a car bonnet when his workplace accident happened.
A metal prop was used to keep the bonnets open while they were painted, but this prop suddenly kicked out without any warning and the bonnet fell onto his shoulder.
He suffered damage to the joint, causing a lot of pain in his shoulder and neck and altered sensation in his fingers. The symptoms continued for more than a year and prevented our client from working, so he had to have an injection into the joint and was recommended to undergo surgery.
The injured employee approached us for help with a compensation claim, as he felt that his accident could have been avoided if he was provided with equipment that was sufficiently safe.
We represented him in a claim and the other side admitted liability. They made an initial offer of less than £5,000, but this did not reflect the full extent of his injury and how badly he had been affected, so we put forward detailed medical evidence and secured an increased offer of over £10,000, which our client accepted. This sum took into account his injury and also his financial losses and expenses. This highlights how using a specialist personal injury lawyer is important to ensure that you receive the right amount of compensation.
