Our lawyers recently assisted a woman, whose husband died as the result of a medical misdiagnosis, in making a successful compensation claim against an NHS Trust.
Our client’s husband woke one day with chest pains and over the course of the morning began to feel quite unwell. By the time he arrived at hospital he was suffering from pain in his chest and left arm and felt clammy.
He was seen by a triage nurse, then an ECG was carried out and some blood samples were taken, however despite having a strong family history of heart disease he was discharged without treatment. Sadly, he died the following day due to a heart attack, leaving behind his wife and 2 children.
His wife felt that the hospital were negligent, as they failed to admit him for further tests which may have detected the problem with his heart. She therefore instructed our lawyers, who are experts in clinical negligence, to assist her in making a claim.
The Trust admitted that, had he been kept in hospital, it was likely he would have survived. Our lawyers were able to negotiate a settlement of £200,000 in damages for his wife and family.
