Our specialist personal injury lawyers recently recovered compensation for a library employee who was injured at work when she suffered a fall due to an unsuitable floor surface.
At the time of her accident at work, the claimant was walking through the library. She was wearing sensible shoes and was not carrying anything, but she slipped suddenly and fell to the ground, injuring her foot.
Upon inspection of the floor no spillage or slippery substance could be found, however the surface consisted of polished wood and other members of staff had slipped before.
The injured employee required hospital treatment and was unable to attend work during her recovery. She appointed our solicitors to assist her in a personal injury claim, as she felt that the floor was unsafe and her employer therefore caused the accident.
It was discovered that risk assessments both before and after the accident noted the floor as inherently slippery. The claimant’s employer initially tried to deny they were responsible, as they obtained an engineering report that stated otherwise, however this was made a considerable period after the accident and building work carried out in the interim period had altered the condition of the floor.
The Judge found in favour of our client and she was awarded over £5,000 damages in respect of her injuries and related losses.
If you or a member of your family has been injured in an accident at work, road accident, or any other type of accident where someone else was to blame, you may be entitled to make a personal injury compensation claim.
