Our specialist personal injury lawyers recently acted on behalf of a man who was badly injured in a cycling accident and recovered compensation on his behalf.
Whilst cycling, our client came to a set of traffic lights at a cross roads. He initially stopped, then when his signal changed to green he continued forward across the junction. Unfortunately, a lorry driver coming from his right passed through a red light, drove across the junction and collided with him.
As a result of this road accident, he suffered multiple fractures to his dominant arm, a deep wound to his knee and various other cuts and bruises. The injury to his arm resulted in some nerve damage and he required a major operation and extensive medical treatment. There was some permanent scarring and loss of sensation and he also underwent counselling, as the incident left him anxious about cycling on the road again.
Our client was able to return to work after 8 weeks, however could not resume his full duties for some time because of his injuries.
The claimant held the driver of the vehicle responsible for the accident, as he failed to obey the traffic signals or take notice of his presence in the road ahead. He therefore appointed our expert lawyers to assist him in making a personal injury claim.
Liability was admitted and we were able to obtain an interim payment of damages, to cover our client’s expenses whilst negotiations were made with the defendant’s insurance company. Medical evidence was obtained and we secured a total settlement of £26,300 in compensation.
If you have been injured as a cyclist, pedestrian, passenger, motorcyclist or driver in a road accident that was someone else’s fault, you may be entitled to make an injury claim.
