13th November 2006
Our solicitors are acting on behalf of Jenny Ayres, whose husband, William Marler, tragically died in July 2006 from mesothelioma, a fatal cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. He was only 68 at the time of his death.
In order to recover compensation from the insurers of his former employers, R.V. Chuck (Transport) Ltd., it will be necessary to trace Mr Marler’s co-workers. Ms Ayres is appealing for anyone that worked for R.V. Chuck to come forward, as they may have important information that would help support a personal injury claim.
Mr Marler was employed by R.V. Chuck, who were based in Rosher Road, Stratford, from 1964 until 1967. He worked as a lorry driver and regularly delivered asbestos to the Cape Asbestos factory in Watford.
He would have been exposed to asbestos fibres in the air as he unloaded his lorry and was not provided with protection from this hazard by his employer. Even relatively small amounts of asbestos can cause mesothelioma, which often develops many years after exposure.
Mr Marler’s industrial disease was caused by the negligence of his employers, who ceased trading some years ago. His devastated wife and family should be entitled to claim compensation in respect of his death, however this claim can only be made if the insurer for R.V. Chuck can be traced.
His widow commented: “No one should have to suffer the way William suffered and I will fight for justice on his behalf. I cannot believe that R.V. Chuck had such a poor view of health and safety that they continued to expose my husband to asbestos when they knew of the risks or ought to have known of the risks that were involved.”
If you or a member of your family has developed mesothelioma, or any other asbestos related illness, you may be entitled to claim compensation.
