Compensation for Wrist Injury in Fall at Work

1st July 2009

When an employee suffered a fall at work due to some dangerous steps and fractured his wrist, our specialist personal injury lawyers recovered compensation on his behalf.

Accident at Work

Whilst descending a set of stone steps at work, our client slipped on grease, oil and dirt that had accumulated on the edging strips. He fell some way down the steps and sustained injuries to his back, ankle and wrist.

The injury to his wrist was severe and he underwent an operation to repair the damage. He was left unable to work for almost a year and lost a considerable amount of earnings and pension contributions. He also incurred costs for travel, medication, care and assistance during his recovery.

Personal Injury Claim

The injured worker appointed our solicitors, who specialise in accident at work claims, to assist him in recovering compensation from his employer. He felt that the company was to blame, as they did not implement a suitable cleaning system to ensure that the steps were safe.

Court proceedings were commenced initially but it was possible to negotiate a settlement of damages before the case went to trial. Our client received £20,000, less CRU benefits, in compensation.
