Compensation Awarded to Victim of Car Accident on Dual Carriageway

6th April 2009

Our lawyers, who specialise in road accident claims, recently assisted a man who was injured in a collision on a major road and was left unable to work.

Road Accident

The claimant was driving along a dual carriageway at the time of his car accident. He moved into the right hand lane to allow joining traffic onto the carriageway, however a driver that merged onto the road continued all the way across into the right lane, colliding with his vehicle.

Our client was left with neck and back injuries and went on to develop chronic pain syndrome. Although he was employed prior to the accident his personal injury prevented him from returning to work at all, so he also suffered a considerable loss of earnings. There were also travel and medical expenses, the loss of the claimant’s full pension rights and costs for care and assistance he required during his initial recovery period.

Personal Injury Claim

The claimant felt that the driver of the other vehicle was responsible for the accident and decided to pursue a personal injury claim. He initially instructed another firm of solicitors but was dissatisfied with their service and approached our lawyers to take over the case on his behalf.

The case was not straightforward, as the defendant’s medical evidence conflicted with ours, and court proceedings had to be instigated against the Defendant. We were successful however and recovered £70,000 compensation on behalf our client. This case highlights the need to appoint an experienced, specialist firm to deal with your injury claim, as other firms may give up on more difficult cases or accept a lesser settlement.
