A cyclist was left with permanent damage to his arm following a road accident caused by someone else. Our specialist personal injury lawyers pursued a compensation claim on his behalf.
Our client was riding his bicycle along a road when the accident occurred. He had right of way and it was the middle of the day, so he was visible to other road users. Unfortunately however the driver of a car pulled out of a side road into his path in error. In his efforts to avoid a collision, our client swerved, came off his bicycle and landed in the road.
As a result of this cycling accident he suffered a hand injury and fractured elbow. He was able to return to work after 2 months or so, but was left with permanently restricted movement in his arm and ongoing, intermittent discomfort in his hand and elbow.
We were appointed by the injured cyclist to act for him in a personal injury claim against the driver. Their insurance company admitted liability and we submitted a report from a medical expert on our client’s injuries.
Their initial offers of compensation did not reflect the level of injury sustained and extent of our client’s financial losses, so we entered into negotiations to secure a more suitable offer for him. An increased amount was agreed and our client received £11,000 in damages in respect of his injuries, loss of earnings and other expenses, including travel costs, care costs and the cost of repairs to his bicycle.
If you have suffered a personal injury as the result of a road traffic accident and someone else was to blame, whether you were a cyclist, motorcyclist, driver, passenger or pedestrian, you may be entitled to make an injury claim.
