A 13 year old girl fractured her arm as the result of an accident at school and our specialist personal injury lawyers acted on her behalf in a compensation claim.
Following a PE lesson, the claimant and her fellow pupils were assisting their teacher in putting a trampoline away. The other pupils were on one side and she was with the teacher on the other. They were told to close it in a controlled manner and that they should not let go, but were not instructed on what to do if anything went wrong.
As they closed the trampoline, which is held by high tension springs, it snapped shut. The claimant tried to protect herself and slow the movement using her right arm, however it was too forceful and her arm was fractured.
Our lawyers, who have extensive experience in cases involving sports accidents and accidents in schools, were appointed to deal with a personal injury claim on behalf of the injured pupil.
The matter was pursued to court and the Judge found that the school was liable for the accident, as children require more training than adults would and the pupils should have been told what to do in the event of the trampoline springing shut. The claimant was awarded damages in respect of her injury.
If you or a member of your family has suffered a sports injury or has been injured in an accident on public or private property, such as a school, leisure centre or supermarket, you may be entitled to make a personal injury compensation claim.
