Claim for Man Injured in Cycling Accident on Roundabout

7th July 2009

In a recent case, our specialist personal injury lawyers acted for a cyclist injured in a road accident and recovered compensation on his behalf.

Cycle Accident

At the time of his cycling accident, our client approached a roundabout in the left hand lane and, when his path was clear, began proceeding around it, correctly still staying to the left.

The driver of a car that was in a lane to his right on the approach also drove on to the roundabout, in the right hand lane as though to continue around it. Suddenly however she made a left turn towards an exit across our client’s path and collided with him.

As a result of the accident, our client suffered a back injury, foot injury and bruising to various parts of his body. There was also damage to his bicycle and a valuable watch he was wearing.

Compensation Claim Against Driver

The claimant felt that the driver of the vehicle acted irresponsibly and their negligence caused the accident. He therefore instructed our lawyers to assist him in making a personal injury claim.

Negotiations were made with the third party insurance company and £3,000 compensation was secured for our client’s personal injury and also his losses, including costs for travel, care during his recovery, medication and the repair/replacement of damaged items.
