Employee Makes Injury Claim for Electric Shock at Work

7th December 2011

Our lawyers are experts in personal injury, with a wealth of experience in recovering compensation for the victims of accidents at work. In a recent case, we acted on behalf of an employee who suffered an electric shock due to faulty work equipment.

Accident at Work

At the time of his workplace accident, our client was preparing a servery trolley for use. As he turned on one of the switches he received a strong electric shock to his right hand and arm.

He sustained minor burns and some muscle damage and suffered weakness and altered sensation in his arm for some time after the accident. It was over a year before he was fully recovered.

Personal Injury Claim

After the accident, it became clear that the trolley had already been reported as damaged and in need of repair, but it was still left in use. Our client therefore felt that his employer failed to take sufficient health and safety measures to protect him from harm, so he approached us for assistance with a compensation claim.

We pursued a case against his employer and they admitted liability. Their initial offer of compensation was low in light of our client’s injuries, so we began negotiations and secured an increased offer. The injured employee received £2,500 in damages.
