We recently acted in a personal injury claim on behalf of a man who suffered a fall at work and sustained a spinal injury. The claim against his employer was successful and he received compensation.
Our client was walking through a warehouse at his workplace. Oil had leaked onto the floor surface from a forklift truck and this had not been cleared away. He slipped on the oil and fell, banging his head and back with force.
As a result of this accident at work, he fractured his spine and he was admitted to hospital, where he had to wear a brace and remain on bed rest.
It was several months before he was fully recovered and he had to take a lot of time off work. This meant that he incurred a loss of earnings and eventually lost his job altogether because of his ill health.
Thankfully our client was able to make a good recovery and secure alternative employment.
We represented the injured worker in a compensation claim, as he felt that his accident could have been prevented if the warehouse was in a safe condition. We began a claim and put forward a suggestion as to the compensation our client should receive, taking into account his injuries and losses.
He received damages in respect of his personal injury, lost earnings and the costs he incurred for care and transport during his recovery.
If you suffer an injury as the result of a workplace accident, and you feel someone else was to blame, you may be in a position to make an injury claim.
