Engineer Suffers Serious Foot Injury in Workplace Accident

3rd November 2009

Our expert lawyers recently handled a personal injury claim on behalf of an engineer, who suffered a serious foot injury in an accident at work.

Manual Handling Accident

Our client was undertaking a manual handling task at the time of his accident. He was trying to remove a large, heavy door from a mould when it became stuck and he lost his grip. It therefore fell at an angle onto the top of his foot and, because he did not have personal protective equipment that covered the area of the impact, his foot was badly damaged.

He received initial treatment at hospital and then further treatment at a later stage for ongoing problems, which have affected his ability to take part in physical activities and hobbies long-term.

Personal Injury Claim

The claimant instructed our lawyers to represent him in a compensation claim against his employer in respect of his personal injury. We pursued a case on the basis that there was insufficient training, assistance and equipment provided for our client to carry out his work safely.

Liability was admitted and we were able to negotiate a settlement of £14,500 in damages. This figure included a sum for his loss of earnings, care costs and other expenses he incurred as a result of his injury.
