Whilst attending a sporting event as a spectator, a woman suffered a foot injury when she slipped on some spilt food. Our expert lawyers pursued a personal injury claim on her behalf and she received compensation.
Our client was in a restaurant area at the time of her accident, purchasing some food. As she walked away from the counter she suddenly slipped, due to a spillage that had not been cleaned away or marked with a warning sign. She fell to the ground and felt severe pain in her foot.
Witnesses assisted her and she was taken to receive medical attention. Her injury was diagnosed as a sprain and she had difficulty walking due to the pain. This affected her ability to work in her normal capacity for a number of months, as a result of which she suffered a reduction in her earnings. Although there was some improvement in her symptoms over time, our client was left with long-term problems with the injured foot.
As specialists in cases involving accidents in public places, our lawyers were appointed by the injured woman to assist her in recovering compensation.
We made a claim against the company responsible for the restaurant and an initial offer of compensation was put forward. This did not reflect the extent of our client’s injury however and the effect it had on her life. We therefore rejected the offer and after negotiations we were able to secure a settlement of £11,500 in damages.
If you suffer a personal injury in an accident caused by the negligence of someone else, you may be entitled to make an injury claim.
