In a recent personal injury case, our specialist lawyers assisted a man who was struck by a falling object in an accident at work. We recovered compensation on his behalf.
Our client was manually removing some items from a pallet at his workplace, when he felt a huge blow to his head and was knocked off balance. He realised that an entire pallet filled with stock had toppled from a nearby stack and struck him. The pallet had fallen because it was not stacked correctly.
The force of the blow caused him to suffer a head injury and neck injury. Our client had to take time off work to recover and he required physiotherapy treatment to assist the healing process. His neck injury in particular gave rise to symptoms lasting many months.
The injured employee felt that if more care was taken over health and safety his injuries could have been prevented. The pallets should have been stacked in a safe and secure manner, but they were not and this was the cause of the accident.
He instructed our specialist personal injury lawyers, who have a wealth of experience in workplace accident cases, to assist him with making a compensation claim.
We began a claim against his employer and they put forward an offer of damages. We advised our client to reject this offer however, as our assessment was that it was too low. After some negotiations we were able to secure an increased offer and he received £3,300 compensation.
