Our personal injury lawyers recently obtained compensation for a homecare worker who was injured at work due to a slipping hazard in the home of a service user.
Prior to the claimant’s accident, complaints had been made to the family of the service user about the frayed, slippery carpet on the stairs. She was not able to take care of her own affairs as she suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, so her adult children were asked to repair the problem. They simply laid sticky tape over the damaged parts however, which was slippery in itself and posed just as much of a hazard to visitors.
Our client slipped and fell whilst walking down the stairs in the course of her work and suffered injuries, as a result of which she required time off from work and help from her family during her recovery.
The claimant felt that her employer did not take sufficient measures to ensure her health and safety at work, so appointed our solicitors to assist her in making a personal injury claim.
The claim proceeded to Court and the Judge agreed that the employer should have done more to ensure that the stairs were fixed or services were withdrawn until this was carried out.
If you have been injured in an accident at work or accident on private property, you may be entitled to claim compensation if someone else was to blame.
