A woman who suffered a personal injury when she slipped on wet flooring at a hospital was awarded compensation recently, in a claim handled by our specialist lawyers.
The claimant was an employee at the hospital, but at the time of her accident was there as a visitor to drop off a raffle prize. As she entered she could see that, off the main corridor, there was a cleaner working and there were ‘wet floor’ warning cones in 2 of the bays. There were none in the corridor itself however, so she did not think that it was wet.
Unfortunately it was wet and this caused her to slip and fall, as a result of which she suffered injuries.
The claimant felt that there was inadequate signage to ensure visitors were aware of the hazard and her fall could have been avoided. She therefore appointed our expert personal injury lawyers to assist her in making a claim.
The Judge held that the Occupiers’ Liability Act had been breached and the claimant had no reason to take special care when using the corridor because of the lack of signs. She was awarded damages in respect of her injuries.
