This recent road accident case highlights the importance of appointing an experienced personal injury lawyer to handle your compensation claim. We assisted a woman who suffered neck and shoulder injuries when another vehicle collided with her stationary car, and she received more than double the amount of compensation that the other side were willing to offer her directly.
Our client was parked at the side of the road when another driver reversed towards her and collided with the front of her car.
Due to the force of the impact, she suffered whiplash injuries and her shoulder was damaged. Although the neck pain subsided within a matter of weeks, the problems with her shoulder continued for many months, with some mild discomfort still present after a year or two.
The injured woman felt that the other driver was responsible for the accident, as they reversed without first checking that their path was clear to do so.
Their insurance company made direct contact with her initially. They admitted liability and, after obtaining medical evidence of her injuries, made an offer of compensation in the sum of £1,400. She decided to seek legal assistance however and appointed our specialist lawyers to deal with the insurance company on her behalf.
Our advice was that the initial offer was too low in consideration of the extent of our client’s personal injury, but the other side refused to increase it above £1,500. We therefore commenced court proceedings and the Judge heard evidence. He agreed with us and awarded our client £3,000 in respect of her injury. She also received an additional amount to cover her losses and expenses related to the accident.
If you suffer injuries as the result of a car accident, you may be entitled to make an injury claim.
