Increased Compensation Obtained for Road Accident Passenger

22nd September 2009

Our specialist personal injury lawyers recovered compensation for a passenger who suffered a personal injury in a road accident.

Passenger Injury

Our client was a front seat passenger in a stationary car at a set of traffic lights that was hit in the rear by another vehicle. He suffered a neck injury, back injury and facial bruising as a result.

He approached our lawyers for assistance with making a personal injury claim, as he felt that the driver of the other vehicle was at fault for the accident.

Compensation Claim

The other side admitted liability and an initial offer of compensation was made. This did not take into account the full extent of our client’s injuries however, or the fact that he was a competitive rugby player and had been forced to drop down a level in standard because of the accident.

The other side were willing to increase their offer by a small amount, but this was still not appropriate and they refused to negotiate any further. We therefore pursued the matter to court, where the Judge awarded a significantly increased sum of damages, in line what our lawyers had originally put forward to the defendant.

This case highlights the importance of seeking specialist advice if you intend to make an injury claim as, without the benefit of the knowledge of an experienced lawyer, the claimant may have received a lesser amount of compensation.
