Our specialist personal injury lawyers recently recovered compensation for a woman knocked down by a car whilst crossing the road.
Our client was making her way home from work and she needed to cross a road adjacent to a roundabout. Before doing so she checked that no cars were coming her way. There was a vehicle on the roundabout, however the driver was signalling right to take a different exit so she proceeded.
Unfortunately, as our client was making her way across the road, the driver made a last minute decision and changed direction, turning left to leave the roundabout. The vehicle struck the claimant and she was thrown up onto the bonnet and windscreen before landing in the road.
She was knocked unconscious and suffered a shoulder injury, ankle injury and extensive bruising to her body. Our client had to use crutches to get around and she found it difficult to work or do housework during her recovery. She was also unable to keep up with her hobbies for a number of months and was left with a small scar. In addition, there were also psychological effects of the accident, for which she underwent treatment.
The claimant felt that the driver of the vehicle was responsible for her road accident and she appointed our lawyers to assist her in making a personal injury claim.
We approached the driver’s insurance company but they denied liability. We provided evidence of our client’s injuries and witness evidence of the circumstances of the accident however and the claim was successful. We secured a settlement of £7,500 in damages on her behalf.
