Elizabeth Webster is appealing for her husband’s former colleagues to come forward as witnesses to his exposure to asbestos. He sadly passed away in April 2005 from mesothelioma, a fatal form of cancer caused by inhaled asbestos fibres.
Anyone who worked with Mr Webster, formerly of Oakham, Leicestershire, should contact us on 0800 0328511.
From 1957 until approximately 1962, Edward Webster was an apprentice at Brush, then he rejoined the company from around 1963 until 1968. His duties on “Outside Service” included the installation of various pieces of equipment made by the company and he was sent to different locations to do this, including the boiler rooms of factories and power stations.
Through his work he came into contact with asbestos lagging around pipes and often there would be 2-3 inches of asbestos dust on these pipes that he could not help but inhale.
With the help of our lawyers, Mrs Webster is now fighting to secure justice for her late husband and recover compensation from his former employers. In order to do this, information is needed from anyone who worked with Mr Webster, or did a similar job, to help assess the amount of asbestos that he was exposed to.
Mesothelioma is an industrial disease that is almost exclusively caused by exposure to asbestos. It is devastating to the victims and their families and the number of mesothelioma cases is set to rise over the next 10 years.
Employers who negligently allowed their employees to come into contact with asbestos when they knew, or ought to have known the risks, should be held responsible and made to pay compensation for the damage they have caused.
If you or a member of your family has been affected by exposure to asbestos, our specialist personal injury solicitors may be able to assist you in making a compensation claim.
