Our lawyers, who specialise in industrial disease claims, recovered £11,500 compensation recently for a parcel service worker suffering from occupational hearing loss.
In the course of his work our client was exposed to high levels of noise without hearing protection and suffered hearing loss as a result.
He worked air side and would drive tugs transporting packages to and from the airfield. As he did this aircraft would land and taxi to the terminals nearby and the noise from the engines was extremely loud.
The claimant’s industrial deafness affects his ability to hear the television, telephone and particularly conversation, which has an impact on his current job as a taxi driver. He also developed tinnitus, which interferes with his sleep, work and leisure activities.
Our specialist personal injury lawyers assisted him in making a claim against his former employer. They initially denied liability however evidence was obtained to show that he had been exposed to high levels of noise and they offered a compensation settlement.
The initial amount offered was not in accordance with the level of injury suffered by the claimant however, so our lawyers negotiated with the defendant and their third offer was eventually accepted.
