A young woman suffered several injuries when she was a passenger in a road accident. Our specialist personal injury lawyers pursued a compensation claim on her behalf.
Our client was a passenger in a car driven by someone she knew. They were driving along a country road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which skidded on the wet road surface, hit an embankment and rolled over.
As a result of this car accident, our client suffered injuries to her neck, back and groin and a serious wound to her thumb. She was treated at hospital, where she underwent an operation to repair her thumb, and later had a course of physiotherapy treatment. Due to the distressing nature of the accident our client also suffered psychological injuries.
She was unable to attend work for more than two months and had to take a lot of time off from her college studies to recover. During this time she needed a lot of help with personal care from her family members. She was left with permanent scarring and discomfort in her thumb.
The injured passenger approached our lawyers, who are experts in road accident cases, to assist her with a personal injury claim.
We began a claim against the driver’s insurance company, as he failed to drive with sufficient care to maintain control of his vehicle. They admitted liability and we obtained and provided medical evidence of our client’s injuries. The insurer made an initial offer of compensation, which we advised our client to reject as it was low when taking into account her injuries.
Through negotiations with the other side we were able to secure a substantially increased offer and our client received £12,000 in damages. This took into account her injuries and also her financial losses, including her lost earnings, medical and travel expenses and the costs of replacing personal items damaged in the accident.
If you suffer a personal injury as the result of a road accident caused by someone else’s negligence, whether you were a driver, passenger, pedestrian, cyclist or motorcyclist, you may be entitled to pursue an injury claim.
