After suffering a fall on a public pavement, an injured pedestrian appointed our specialist personal injury lawyers to assist him in making a compensation claim.
The claimant, who was registered blind, tripped and fell due to barriers erected on the pavement, which seemed to have no other purpose than to guide construction staff.
These barriers had feet that protruded into the walkway of the pavement and posed a hazard to vulnerable pedestrians.
As the street led to a nearby hospital, it was reasonable to assume that there would be a greater percentage of more vulnerable pedestrians. The barriers erected did not take this into account however and none of the suggested measures, such as tapping rails for blind pedestrians, were present.
Prior to his personal injury, our client was independent and could visit his local shop without the aid of a stick or help from another person.
Our lawyers pursued a claim on his behalf against the local authority and were able to secure compensation for the injuries he suffered.
