A man suffered a serious leg injury when a driver lost control of their vehicle and mounted the pavement. Our expert personal injury solicitors represented the injured pedestrian in a compensation claim.
Our client was walking along the pavement when a nearby car veered off the road, mounted the pavement and collided with some bollards. One of the bollards was dislodged by the impact and flew towards our client, smashing into his lower leg and causing an open fracture of both bones.
A metal rod and skin grafts were used to repair the damage to our client’s leg and he spent time in hospital. He was unable to work in his normal capacity for several months and he required physiotherapy to regain the use of his leg. The road accident also caused some psychological trauma, for which he received counselling.
Our client was left with significant scarring and some ongoing problems with the injured leg, affecting his ability to enjoy sports and leisure activities.
We acted on behalf of the injured man in a personal injury claim against the driver of the car, as they failed to drive safely and keep proper control of their vehicle.
The driver’s insurance company admitted liability and we secured an interim payment for our client to assist him financially whilst the case was in progress. We obtained reports from medical experts relating to the extent of his injuries and negotiated with the other side in respect of a suitable amount of compensation. After rejecting an initial, lower offer, we recovered a total of £51,000 for our client. This sum took into account the personal injury he sustained and also his financial losses and expenses related to the accident.
If you suffer an injury as the result of a road traffic accident, or any other accident caused by the negligence of someone else, you may be entitled to make an injury claim.
