A woman was injured in a fall at work because of a faulty lift. Our expert personal injury lawyers acted on her behalf in a compensation claim.
Our client was about to use a lift at her workplace. The doors opened and she began to walk in, but the lift had not stopped level with the floor. It was raised by several inches and this caused her to trip. She fell into the lift, landing heavily onto both knees, banging her shin and hurting her shoulder.
As a result of this accident at work, she suffered a significant knee injury. She was given a crutch, leg brace and pain medication at hospital, but there was little improvement over time and she had to have physiotherapy treatment. The injury prevented her from working for more than 2 months and she could not drive or tend her garden. She was left with some long-term problems with her knee.
Our client’s accident happened because she was not provided with a safe workplace, so we represented her in a personal injury claim against her employer.
The company admitted liability and we put forward medical evidence of her injury and financial losses, including her loss of earnings, travel expenses and prescription costs. We were able to negotiate a settlement of £10,000 compensation for our client, after rejecting an initial, lower offer made by her employer.
